The site aggregates my personal interests, observations, digital wanderings, occasional writings, and photo / video productions. Fifty 5 content typically covers Chinese Internet and technology developments, creative / youth / Web culture, digital media, fashion, design, music, photography, urban art, innovation, and events. Although I keep this site for myself – it’s basically just an external hard-drive for my brain – I’m happy to have you here too.

More about me – I’m originally from Detroit, Michigan but have been traveling the world since I was a teenager. I have been in and out of China since 1999 and am currently based full time in Shanghai – a city I have (finally) fully embraced as “home.” I graduated from The University of Michigan with degrees in Political Science (Sino-international relations) & Mandarin Chinese.

My professional work includes being a Partner at Neocha.com, the premier social networking and online community for Chinese creatives (musicians, photographers, illustrators, designers, graffiti artists, film-makers, etc.). I’m also a co-Founder and the Chief Editor of NeochaEDGE. NeochaEDGE is two things: as a destination, it’s a daily-curated, bilingual website and discovery engine dedicated to showcasing leading-edge creative content and emerging youth culture in China. As a consultancy, it’s a full-service idea and execution house passionate about helping clients understand, engage, and co-create with Chinese creative communities, trendsetters, and youth culture opinion leaders.

Beyond my Neocha work, I’m also currently a Strategist for Edelman Digital, Asia Pacific. Until July, 2009, I was responsible for leading Edelman Digital in the China market. At Edelman Digital, I provide strategic counsel and insight to staff and clients on Chinese social media, digital communications and marketing campaigns, Internet word of mouth, local Internet trends / culture, and “digital lifestyles” in China.

Additionally, I’m a (very) occasional contributor at Danwei.org, a leading website on Chinese media, marketing, advertising, and urban life.
