things well done | view-master ::
:: I took this photo in Shanghai at a small shop called Old School on Huating Rd. (#4), very close the Changle Rd. intersection. A retro View-Master – bascially the centerpiece of my childhood. I just read that Fisher Price recently all but eliminated the production of View-Master title discs. Why? 3D is coming back in a big way these days. What a tragedy. The viewer is available at Old School for RMB 60; the shop also has a small collection of title discs available for sale. Bravo, well done. // AjS

it wouldn’t be too hard for someone to make their own disks if one had access to slide film or even a printer than would print on transparencies, though in that case the quality may suck. might be an interesting way for a photographer to have an exhibit; have a well lit room, 12 viewmasters and a couple dozen disks of the photographers work. be cool to see done, though i doubt i’ll ever put it in motion.

@ Kellen, thanks for your response. I was just thinking the same thing actually, but in a more commercial way. For example, using a View-Master to do a pitch presentation (I work at a digital “agency”), or creating a company / brand’s credentials presentation in View-Master format. Hmmm.
