:: Hard Queen, an up-and-coming indie-pop band based in Shanghai, just released it’s first proper EP, titled Holiday (ehh hmm, I am mentioned in the linear notes btw, no biggie). To celebrate the EP’s completion, the band gave a raucous release party performance last Saturday to a packed Yuyintang, one of Shanghai’s oldest and most-legit live music houses. See below for a slideshow of photos taken at the show by George Godula. Hard Queen also has two Neocha pages, link here and here, and a Douban group. // AjS
Below are a couple videos I shot of Hard Queen performing live. The first video is also available on YouTube here.

This video was shot in mid-July 2008 at ENO during an exhibition showcasing Popil’s graffiti / illustration work.
The Shanghai Beat “Music Shorts” is produced by 56minus1 (aka Adam Schokora / 小石).
Intro music by Sulumi, a song called “De.”
