subversive currency ::

:: my friend Brad and his wife recently found this subversive RMB 10 note in Shanghai. If you don’t know what’s printed on it, please consult your Chinese dictionary. I’ve heard about this before, but this is the first time I’ve actually seen it. Clever, and probably quite effective at spreading a message. Has anyone else come across such notes?  // AjS

    I saw the same effelgy slogan pasted on telephone poles in Ningxia.

    I’ve got one of these at home. I think I received it when I went to the Portman branch of Chaterhouse Books.

    I wouldn’t necessarily go raving about this kind of thing.
    You know how the net nanny who looks after us for our own good is about information on this subject.

    I shall check my wallet, unfortunately i only have red notes, all of which start with HD90 numbering.

    I’ve received a couple of these last year – both on 1 kuai notes. One was printed, the other hand-written. The one that was printed had a phone number to call if you wanted to quit the party.
