:: a slideshow presentation of original DIY dolls created by Neocha.com-user Huluwa, who, in addition to doll making, apparently loves Metallica, Korn, and 左小诅咒 (a favorite of mine). Eclectic taste. Also, does anyone else notice the green bottle of 55-percent-by-volume baijiu to the right of the dolls. Perfect. // AjS

For those into DIY / handmade dolls, link to this early post 56minus1 had on Lili Chen’s sock dolls.

about-if_clip_image006:: last Thursday I had dinner with the lovely Lili Chen (陈立), the creative force behind no3n°4 (布三布四), an indie design company specializing in handmade sock dolls. Lili started making sock dolls after her boyfriend Khrass (now business partner) said she couldn’t. The first doll Lili made was with a pair Khrass’s dirty adidas socks; she stayed up all night to complete it, woke Khrass up at 4am to show him, then they started a business together.

With her dolls, Lili aims to recreate playful childhood fantasy among her, typically adult, customers. Lili says she designs her dolls to bring out the inner child in people. See below for a few examples of her work. Also, check out no3n°4’s Taobao shop. Bravo, well done. // AjS
